(An Introduction to Obedience)

“AKC Obedience Trials demonstrate the usefulness of the purebred dog as a companion to man. Obedience trials showcase dogs that have been trained and conditioned to behave well in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs. AKC trials and tests allow exhibitors and their dogs to enjoy companionship and competition as they proudly earn AKC titles.” (AKC web site)

BACKCSC offers obedience competition as part of our Annual Specialty in October. If the conformation classes are not for you and your dog, obedience might be! (Even spayed and neutered Cavaliers can participate.) We would love to see a large entry this year, so come learn how to get started.

Jill Urbina, an obedience judge for over 20 years, and her Cavalier, Derby, CDX, will give us an introduction to AKC Obedience Trials. The two of them will demonstrate several exercises. Jill will explain the three levels of competition, as well as describe the processes, awards and titles. At the end of her presentation, she will give us tips and a chance to try a novice exercise or two.

WELL BEHAVED CAVALIERS ARE WELCOME AT THIS MEETING!
