at the Dublin Public Library, 200 Civic Plaza, Dublin, CA.

Canine Genetics & the DNA Signatures of Toy Breeds
Summary: Dr Neff will report on recent advances in the field of canine genetics, and will discuss research topics of particular interest to Toy breed enthusiasts.
Mark Neff is the Associate Director of the Canine Genetic Unit at the UC Davis Center for Veterinary Genetics. Dr Neff received his Ph.D. in classical genetics from the University of Virginia where he investigated the cellular mechanisms that guard against cancer. He was awarded a Human Genome Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship to work with Dr. Jasper Rine at UC Berkeley on the first Dog Genome Project. Current research interests include the genetics of complex diseases (like ectopic ureters) and selected action patterns (like pointing behavior).
